Meet Dr. Higgins
Billy Higgins, LPC, BCBA-D
As a parent myself, I understand how vital the parent-child relationship is. I am passionate about helping families navigate challenges with patience, empathy, and evidence-based practices.
I specialize in working with children, teens, and young adults—especially those who have struggled to make progress in traditional behavioral therapy. I enjoy working with caregivers who recognize the role their own behavior plays in their child's growth. I help parents of children with ADHD implement structured feedback and incentives to improve focus, task completion, and following directions. I also work with individuals of all ages who experience anxiety and panic attacks.
One of my greatest passions is supporting families with young children recently diagnosed with ASD. There is often a delay in accessing services after an initial diagnosis, but by teaching parents how to integrate strategies at home, we can achieve significant progress in language development, mealtime routines, toileting, and sleep. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with children who have complex medical histories.
My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive space where clients feel understood, encouraged, and capable of growth. Together, we can build the skills and strategies needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
Services I Offer
-
My approach centers on empowering parents and caregivers through tailored training within the framework of family therapy, both with and without the child present. I guide families in implementing parent-mediated interventions to support a range of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges.
-
I work with children, adolescents, and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities, tailoring my approach to their individual goals, self-awareness, and motivation for change. Using evidence-based strategies, I support challenges related to emotional regulation, reducing aggression and other severe behaviors, anxiety, ADHD, school-related difficulties, parent-child dynamics, language delays, and tic disorders.
-
For young adults, my work focuses on building social skills, enhancing communication, and navigating the transition to adulthood. Supporting their transition into independence and managing life challenges. This typically includes integrated care across prividers and coordination of care.
-
I provide consultation services to organizations, schools, and agencies, with contracts typically focused on staff and teacher training. I also collaborate with these groups to assess and address challenging behaviors within school or agency settings, offering comprehensive support that includes staff, teacher, and caregiver training.

I provide brief outpatient Family Therapy services for children and their caregivers, focusing on creating a supportive environment that encourages adaptive and prosocial behavior. My work primarily involves partnering with parents to the home environment to promote positive growth toward the treatment goals. Initially, I meet with families weekly or biweekly, adjusting the frequency as progress is made. As goals are achieved, sessions transition to monthly appointments, followed by as-needed support or some families opt for six-month maintenance appointments to ensure lasting success.
-
I require at least 24 hour notice if you need to cancel an appointment. If 24 hours notice is not provided or you choose to not show for your appointment, your credit card on file will be charged $75. If you need to cancel an appointment, please email me at whiggins-hbh@outlook.com

Currently all of my patient appointments are done via telehealth.

I offer brief, goal-focused family therapy—most families work with me for about 5 to 10 sessions. Some reach their goals quickly, while others take a bit more time depending on what’s going on.
After we’ve met those goals, some families check in only as needed, while others like to schedule a maintenance session every 6 or 12 months to make sure things stay on track. I’m always here to collaborate and figure out what kind of support works best for your family.
